My 5 Best Pictures (In order)

This is my favourite image out of all that I took. The reason being is that the flower is prominent and very vibrant which catches an audience members attention. The background is also a bright contrasting colour of green to the pink flower. In the background you can see a couple of other flowers of the same type which creates a heartwarming effect on the viewer and makes the overall image happier. The main focus of this image is in perfect focus and the background is well blurred. Therefore, this image has achieved a great Depth of Field. The connotations of this image overall give a jolly vibe. The bright colours of both the flower and the background give an uplifting effect on the audience. Furthermore, the flower itself connotes happiness.

I particularly like this image because of all the denotations within. The entire jungle of leaves and the water droplets give a peaceful effect on the audience. The colour of the picture makes clear to the audience that it is an image of nature and happiness as the colours are bright. The water droplets connote purity of life much like the whole image, as it's all natural life. Furthermore, the droplets themselves make the image more visually appealing to the audience. The Depth of Field in also good within this image as the main focus is the water droplets on the leaf and the background is out of focus.

The next image of the rose is one of my preferred photos. The reason why I like this image is because we have a contrast of man made materials and and natural objects. The only bright colour in this image is the rose itself which bright attention to the main subject of the image. The Depth of Field, much like the other images, is great and the main subject is in perfect focus. The connotations of this rose could be many things. It could connote love and passion, but could also represent the phrase 'Every Rose has it's Thorns' which when compared to the man made object in the background, could connote the destruction of nature through man made objects. The bricks in the background, however, do create a nice background for the rose to stand out. This is the reason I like this image.

This next image is another of my favourites as it shows the journey of life and growth through the use of natural objects. The growing buds and the fully grown flower connote the journey of life as they progressively get bigger as you get to the flower. Also, as audience members ready pictures from the left to the right, this image is, in my opinion, perfectly composed to fit the audiences needs. Again, the Depth of Field great leading to a perfectly focused main subject. The flower itself connotes happiness and joy. Both the colours of white and yellow have a connotation of purity and lively emotion.

Finally, this image of the broken stem and decaying leaf shows the opposite of the previous image. This shows a journey of death and decay. The leaf has a range of shades of brown which connotes the deeper meaning of decay. The green stem of the left connecting to the dead stalk could connote that decay comes before death, or that both death and decay are connected and that one will happen before the other. The stalk next to leaf is completely cut in half which shows an abrupt end to life.
My Photograph that Require Improvement
I believe that this image needs a lot of improvement. On the positive side, this image does have a good Depth of Field with makes the subject in focus. However, I personally don't find the image to be as interesting as the others. There is a lot going on in the background and despite saying that the Depth of Field is good, the background is still in slight focus and can take away attention form the main subject of the image. There are also small imperfections in the background such as the broken petals which I believe become a distraction.
Edited Images
I have decided to edit my first two favourites images as I believe that I can edit them to create an increased effect on the audience.
To edit this image I simply adjusted the Hue and Saturation of the entire image to make the subject and background more vibrant and visually appealing towards the audience. By doing this, I've made the flower and the background more meaningful in the connotations.

To edit this image I have simply done the same things as the previous editing, I heightened the Hue and Saturation and also Brightened the image to make it overall more bright. Therefore, I have decided to create two versions of this image to create two different effects on the audience.
I have changed this image to Black and White to create a more deep meaning to the image. By changing the image to black and white, I have created a more depressing meaning to the image. The connotations of this particular edit could possible be loneliness and sadness with the water droplets being on the leaf departed from the other water droplets and rain. The water droplets themselves connote rain and misery also.
