The Denotations of this image are, like any other denotation, easy to spot. The young girl represented in the image is dirty, has a rainbow pattern on her cheeks, her eyes are watering and she has an intimidating gaze. The background behind her is dirty and rundown. The wall seems to have a splatter of some sort also. The Connotations of this image are, I believe, extremely deep. The tears in her eyes may show the audience that the young girl is upset, maybe hurt. The rainbow cheeks may represent pride of either who she is or what she has done. Both of the denotations combined may represent 'crying pride.' Her gaze may connote her strength and her power to pull through her pain which is presented by the previous connotations. The dirt on her and the dirty walls connote what her living environment or could possibly connote her emotions.
