Line Definition

Line
A line represents a path between two points.
A line can be horizontal, vertical, straight, curved, diagonal or zigzagged.
Lines imply motion and suggest direction or orientation.
A line can be implied and further filled by the mind when several points are positioned geometrically within a frame.

Horizontal lines imply tranquillity, peace and harmony
Vertical lines imply power and strength.
Diagonal lines imply movement, action and change.
Curved lines or S shaped lines imply quiet, calm and sensual feelings.

Lines that converge imply depth, scale and distance - a fence or roadway converges into the distance provides the illusion that a flat two-dimensional image has three-dimensional depth.

Both the image of the woman in a blissful position and the wooden horizontal lines both convey a peaceful environment.

The vertical lines within this image show power and strength as they are essentially keeping nature out or trapping it in. However, the image of the flowers breaking through the wood also show power and strength as they're the only piece of nature in this image.

The diagonal lines shown in this image imply both action and movement as the lines are coming out from the back of a moving aircraft. the lines slowly get thinner in the image which implies the movement.

The image of the lake itself implies a quiet, peaceful atmosphere and when combined with the curved lines, the image has an overall calm and blissful feeling to it.

The converging lines made in the lavender flowers add a scale to the overall image and makes the location within the image seem large. The blackness of the lines also creates a depth as the black is slowly becoming more subtle as you follow the lines.
